Podcasts

For a while now, people from everywhere have been making podcasts and posting them on their websites (payed and, unfortunately, free websites) to get across news or just have something cool.

Listeners' Complaints per Category (not my complaints)

If a podcast is published onto iTunes, there's always a list of complaints. It's actually pretty amusing to read them, when they're all 12 years old and complaining about videogame podcasts. I'll talk about them in the next section.

Complaints of Game Podcasts

Of the really popular podcasts, some are videogame ones by Gamespot and IGN. I, personally, listen to both, though I avoid IGN's "Command Prompt." People love to forget how a podcast is made.

In themed-podcasts, it's really easy to get sidetracked. All get sidetracked at some point, and you can pick up on that quickly. But for those of us that understand that sitting around with 4 friends making a podcast, and being required to stay exactly on theme is difficult. Nobody realizes that those people are friends, not just random people. Not to get sappy, but ever tried talking about videogames for an hours strait? I haven't, but I imagine it could get boring.

Overall Point of Media

And that leads us to the next point. Boredom of the listener is the opposite of what every podcast-maker wants to avoid. I ask you, complainers. Did you get bored when the podcasters got sidetracked? No? Then you were entertained. Aside from the main point of the podcast, that's what the podcasters want: for you to be entertained.

I know I'm getting a bit dull here, so I'll finish up, but I'd like to end on one more thing. I for one would not be entertained listening to guys that talkabout one topic statically for 1 hour strait. It's the sidetracking that makes us all not feel like total nerds when we listen to a game podcast - it adds an ounce of humanity per minute.

Thanks for reading, and the next part of the story will be up for you tomorrow.
