Tutorial Template: The CSS

Alright, you've learned what the HTML code is for and does. Now what? Well, that's only half of it. Yes, i know, it's so much! But within a short time after I understood HTML/CSS I coded my first template. If I could do it, you definitely can. So come on, lets learn us some CSS, the fun part of coding. We'll get to play with colors, styles, the good stuff of the boring part.

Tutorial Template: The HTML

Sometimes trying to learn something new can be daunting. Trust me, I know. It took me a few weeks to learn the most basic things of HTML/CSS because I had no idea where to start. But hopefully if you're in that situation, I can help. Here's a 100% explained HTML template. And I mean explained, I described what everything does, just for you.

But this is just the first part. When you're ready to learn the styling, fun side, read the next tutorial after this. For now, click continue reading so we can get started.

Three (3) New Designs

As design ideas come to me, I write them down. I often want to try to make them in Photoshop, so I sketch more details, just to make sure I remember.

Unfortunately, I'm not great at doing multiple designs at once; I like to keep the same design's flow going without interruption of drastically different designs. Sometimes, though, there's a bottleneck, and one must either delay or finish something quickly.

Yes, I know. It's not mandatory to finish a design. There's no consequence for delaying your designs for you. Shut up. I like to do things this way.

And here we are! In the bottleneck process. Delaying the first (and better) design to quickly do the other shorter two. Not to say the other two are of low quality, but they're simpler to Photoshop. Much simpler, but cleaner, too.

Now may be the point where you ask yourself, "What was the point of this post?" While I can't as of writing this release any designs because they're not yet coded, I can show you PNGs of the delayed one and the first of the two simpler ones. All were sparked by Josh's story he's writing, Nova. As inspiration goes, I named them after it, too.

Designs

Novan

NovanName: Nova Night (It's above, in case you didn't notice)

Completion: 40%

Info: First Nova theme. This is just the homepage. Post/story pages will be full content-width text, like a 2x of the uncontained paragraph shown. The color scheme on this one's still unofficial, at least for the bright blue. It'll most likely go in links and "Read More"'s. This will take a while to code.

Novite

NoviteName: Novite

Completion: 100%; Coding: 0%

Info: Originally tried calling it "Nova Light," because it was a lite darker-colored version of Novan. Name was simplified to Novite. I want to use this as my intro to Wordpress, meaning my first Wordpress-capable theme. Currently they're all Firefox/Safari compatible. I don't care about IE much, yet.

Nova LL

Name: Nova LL

Completion: 0%

Info: Spawned from Novite, is all I'll say.
